My Head Hurts (And Challenge Update)

Just got home from my RWA chapter meeting. The meeting was great - we had a fab presentation on PR from Lisa Pulliam - but now my head hurts. Gosh, you know, there's just so much stuff that goes into this whole writing career outside writing the damn book. I've played ostrich much of the time, sticking my head in the sand and focusing on writing. But I know I won't be able to do that forever.

*sigh*

On to more controllable things (at least for me):

100-Day Challenge Update.

The Book From Hades is officially gone and is now sitting on my agent's desk. Talked to her briefly on Monday. She hadn't started reading it yet, but is excited about it, so that's something. In the meantime, I've jumped back into my paranormal proposal and have been working steady after taking most of last week off to polish up The Book From Hades. Word count totals since then are as follow:

Saturday: 2278/10 pgs
Sunday: 1464 words/7 pgs
Monday: 2483 words/11 pgs
Tuesday: 1897 words/8 pgs (Synopsis only)

I'm finished with the three chapters and am now focusing on the suckopsis. Gah. I hate those.

Oh! And in other news...I have a theme song! Okay, well, I have two that fit really well so I'm listening to them over and over as I work through this suckopsis. I think (hope) it's working.

How are you doing with the challenge? Or if you aren't challenge(d), how are things going for you in general?

I made great progress on the WIP and even brainstormed stuff for the next book over the weekend at my local RWA chapter retreat. I've made my 100+ words a day every day so far. (I've had 3 of my 25 students drop out.) My problem now is there just aren't enough hours in the day to do everything I want to do!

Well done, Eli! Sounds like you're doing so well. I have to write a minimum of 5 pages a day, altough 7 is my real aim. I've been a good girl. Hope your agent loves it :) .

I hope your head feels better. I'm not in the challenge, but I started writing a new book almost two weeks ago. I'm at page 62, which for me is good. My beginnings are usually slower, I feel like I need to get that tone just right. I should start moving faster now.

What are your theme songs?

As you know I've been pulled in other directions, but even though I'm not getting my words per day done, my goal is to have the first draft of this book done by Jan.1. So, there will be some days coming up that the words will be a flyin'!

Congrats on all that you are getting done! And yeah, the once you get published thing takes waaaay more time than I thought it would!

Woo Hoo! I made up for lost time today! I logged in 3,283 words!!

I'm hoping to keep that pace next week.

Have a great weekend!

Okay, lady. It's almost the end of September and you haven't been reporting in on your challenge. Where are you?
