I'm All A-Twitter

Okay, I have no idea if that's a real word or not, but I like it, so I'm going with it.

What has me all twitterish??? Something so simple it's stupid.

During my weekly phone conversation with my mother, during which she once again managed to make me feel guilty about the fact she has yet to read my latest book, she informed me that my cousin is writing a book of her own. I was so excited when I heard this news, I immediately emailed my cousin in Virginia, whom I haven't spoken with since last fall, and pretty much demanded the skinny. And you know what? Mother dear was right. My cousin's truly caught the writing bug!!!

My family's support of my writing is wonderful. My critique partners are gold. But one is not the other, and one will never understand the other in the way that a writing family member can. I'm so excited to have someone in the family who knows what I'm going through, who not only understands it, but is going through it with me! So cool. AND cool to have someone - especially someone I love dearly like my cousin - to talk to and bounce writing ideas and topics around with.

See? All-A-Twitter.

After we emailed back and forth several times, I learned she's several chapters into her first book. I had to bite my tongue not to overwhelm her with information. I did, however, direct her to RWA and told her to join, join, join! She's writing women's fiction, so I think I may be able to nudge her into it. ;) But the really cool part???? We rarely get to see each other because we live on opposite coasts. Last summer when I was in Atlanta for the RWA Conference, we all met up at her sister's house for the weekend. It was the first time I'd seen her in close to ten years. But now, if she joins RWA, I may be able to talk her into going to the conference each year, and that's an awesome excuse to get together more often. I'm thrilled.

Totally-A-Twitter.

Hmmm...wonder if I can talk her into Dallas...

That is so cool, Eli! You're right no matter how wonderful your family is about your writing - they don't get all of it. My daughters, SIL, and husband all are super supportive, yet when I try to talk to them about aspects of writing they kind of glass over.

And the bond you will make not only as cousins but as writers- awesome!

Eli,

I love your Twitter word. I might be one too. lol. And I love the fact your cousin is writing. You'll have so much to share now. Get her to Dallas, I say!

Twitter is a word. It's what birds do. Twitter, chirp, tweet, peep, chatter, trill, warble, sing...

It also means to blather, jabber, blabber, chatter, chitter, gable, go on, blab, rattle, yap, prattle, babble, blither, ramble...

Yeah, yer welcome fer the definition. LOL

I'm very happy for you and your cousin having this in common together, and I hope you two can really bond through this experience. The support will be an awesome bonus to your relationship.

Happy cousin bonding!
